Over the last few weeks of Term 1, students from mainstream Stage 3 classes will engage in shared reading with a Stage 3 class teacher. Students were given a choice of 5 texts to select via a Google Forms survey: Book in for your book. This gives students the opportunity to collaborate with peers outside of their roll class, and in some cases, a teacher other than their class teacher.
During these sessions students are exposed to texts in order to enhance their understanding of pre-Federation Australia and the plight and impact of different migrant groups.
Image: Students from each group contributed to the Fact Wall by listing one fact they learnt about the migrant group. The groups then identified the impact this migrant group had on the Australian colony.
